The Porto vs Liverpool Preview is here for you to get you stuck into the highly anticipated European tie ahead of the match itself.
Liverpool vs Porto Preview
Both sides come into this match having won their domestic ties previously. Anfield was rocking for Sunday’s super derby against Chelsea where the Reds came out 2-0 victors. Goals from Sadio Mane in the 50th minute and Salah’s thunderbolt from 30 yards in the 53rd minute were the deciding factors in the match. Liverpool showed a strong performance with the only threat coming from Eden Hazard, which he fluffed.
Liverpool beat Porto last time out at Anfield 2-0, so they are going with a pretty good advantage to Estadio do Dragao. Porto, on the other hand, managed to beat Portimonense 3 goals to 0 away from home. It was yet another great display from the team chasing Benfica for the domestic title. Same as Liverpool, Porto is in a title chase of their own where they sit level on points with Benfica.
Liverpool expects to field a very strong team for this game, with both Jurgen Klopp and James Milner calling for the team to not lose concentration despite the advantage. Liverpool will be without Dejan Lovren for this match. Lovren played in the first leg at Anfield, but it seems that an illness has prevented the Croatian from playing in this game. Jordan Henderson is in the team after three stellar performances against Porto, Chelsea, and Southampton. Center back Joe Gomez could play this game as he along with Oxlade-Chamberlain and young star Rhian Brewster all made appearances for the U23 this week.
The rest of the defense all traveled to Porto, so it would seem that Joel Matip will continue his partnership with Van Dijk as the main centerbacks. Alisson, Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are predicted to finish the rest of the defense.
In Midfield, Klopp has all assets available and we’re expecting for Henderson, Fabinho, and Wijnaldum to start this game, however, both Naby Keita and James Milner have been very impressive the past few games.
The attacking trio of Liverpool has seen them score 49 goals in the Premier League, so it’s very likely that the attack will consist of Salah, Mane, and Firminho.
Porto has been dealt a massive boost with both defender Pepe and midfielder Hector Herrera both eligible to start after being suspended.
Vincent Aboubakar was on the bench during Porto’s last game against Portimunense in the league but did not play at all.

Honest Porto vs Liverpool Prediction
Liverpool is very well equipped to progress into the next round where they can face Barcelona after they beat Manchester United yesterday. Their 2-0 home lead makes them clear favorites to go through. Porto much like Liverpool have a title race on their hands, so they could focus more on the league and maybe call an early defeat. That’s not to say that they will not try to prove a point after last year they lost 5-0 against the same opponent. But we believe that Liverpool will not lose this game and they might even win it.
Porto vs Liverpool Prediction: Liverpool Win
Score Prediction: 0-2 (0-4 on aggregate)
