It’s Liverpool vs Barcelona this Tuesday night under the lights of Anfield in a game that it seems all but over for the Reds.
This game would have meant so little if Vincent Kompany didn’t score his first goal from outside the box since 2007 for Manchester City yesterday against Leicester. The goal was enough to give City the 3 points and ultimately, place them with one hand on the Premier League trophy.
But this is reality and Liverpool has a very hard game against Barcelona today and the odds and heavily against their favor.
The 3-0 at the Camp Nou means that Liverpool has to score at least 3 if they want to take the game into extra time and possibly penalties. If Barcelona scores one goal, then Liverpool’s job becomes even harder.
If scoring 3 isn’t enough, how about the fact that Jurgen Klopp’s side will be without 2 of their 3 main attackers. The Liverpool coach confirmed that Roberto Firminho will be out for the game due to a muscle problem. Their top scorer, Mohamed Salah, will also miss the match due to a concussion he sustained in their last match against Newcastle.
If that’s not bad enough, reports yesterday emerged that Virgil Van Dijk trained separately yesterday due to a knock that he could be carrying. If Virgil Van Dijk misses this match, they might as well bin it off and don’t bother showing up.
On the other side, Barcelona will be without Ousmane Dembele after he injured himself in Barcelona’s 2-0 defeat to Celta Vigo this weekend.
Liverpool XI: Alisson; Trent, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Mane, Origi, Shaqiri
Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Pique, Langlet, Alba; Bouquets, Rakitic, Vidal, Arthur; Messi, Suarez
Liverpool vs Barcelona Predictions and Scorers
We can’t see Liverpool overcoming a 3-0 deficit, especially without 2 of their most important players. Barcelona will be more than happy to sit back and counter knowing that they hold a healthy lead over the Reds.
If Liverpool scores early, then we might see Barcelona react more, but in all fairness, all they need is to not concede. But, we do believe that the Reds might get one or two goals, but not all four to get the job done.
The Reds have to work even harder than usually, and the fullbacks Trent and Robertson need to be on their A game if they want to go through to the final.
Liverpool vs Barcelona Bet Predictions: 2-0
